This ingenious bottle opener takes all the hassle out of entertaining. Forget hunting around on the floor for dropped bottle tops – this cleverly designed tool does all the hard work, using two hidden magnets which ‘catch’ the tops as they fall. Guaranteed to get guests talking – and most likely trying it for themselves! – these make a great addition to kitchens, patios, BBQ areas and any other entertaining areas. They’re also ideal for caravans, campervans and boats, where compactness of design and versatility are crucial.
Each bottle opener is crafted for maximum efficiency as well as beauty of design. Made from genuine oak barrel stave ends, they hold two powerful magnets at the bottom of the bar, embedded into the back of the wood to ensure a ‘magical’ finish. The front of the bar can be embellished with a polished section of an original metal band which once held the barrel together, or can remain as unadorned wood.
The oak itself is gently sanded to smooth out any unwanted rough edges, then finished by hand to ensure the silkiest texture possible. A protective oil or wax is applied, depending on your choice of colour finish, which either brings out the natural grain of the wood or deepens the tone to give a beautiful, rich golden glow.
For bottle openers for use out of doors, we use an exterior wood stain to protect them from the elements, and provide an easier wall-mounting hook for use with brick and stone.
All have been finished in an hard wax oil suitable for interiors and we also have 2 that are finished in an exterior wood stain making them suitable for use in the garden.
Please note that due to the nature of the wood no two bottle openers are the same, with natural variations in grain, texture and the wood’s reaction to the wax and oil we apply. Each item will also differ in size as the staves vary in width.
